Studio M Valentine’s Day Collection

I really wish I hadn’t passed over this brand for so long.  If you aren’t familiar with Studio M, they are available only at Meijer.  They also, from what I’ve heard and seen, are colors formerly distributed by Color Club under the same color name.  There were 15 different polishes available from this collection, but most of them were ones I’d seen before, already had from a previous collection, or knew they were in the core display.

This year’s collection is called Be A Heart Breaker.  I picked up 5 colors, 4 glitters and a creme.  The creme was an after-thought, so it’s not in the picture below when I initially did my swatches.

Up first is Singles Only.  There are hex glitters of two or three different sizes and very fine micro glitter  all silver.  These are set in a sheer pink base.  I used two coats in the swatch and feel like I got pretty good coverage.

Next up is Platinum Record.  It’s basically the same glitter as in Singles Only, just set in a clear base.  In the bottle it looks like there might be some black micro glitter, but as far as I can tell, there isn’t.  This glitter applied smoothly, and the brush picked it up from the bottle better than I thought it would.

This next one is probably my favorite from this collection.  It’s called Fame & Fortune. Set in a sheer raspberry shade, it’s full of glitter shards.  This is a bottle to turn upside down for awhile before applying it, as the shards settle.  The only thing with application was getting the shards where I wanted them so it wasn’t clumpy, but they laid flat on the nail.

These final two can be found in the core line at Meijer.  I often forget to look to see what’s offered there and in a collection before purchasing.  I don’t often notice a color until I see it in a collection,  and I’ve had to start remembering to look there before purchasing.  If it’s a color I want and it’s in the core line, then I know I can wait until they’re on sale.  These were two I forgot to do that with.

Tru Passion is packed with micro glitters.  These are some of my favorite polishes to pick up from Studio M.  Tru Passion is packed with lavender micro glitters.  I can’t remembe3r if I used two or three coats for this swatch.  Two coats will give close to full coverage for the most part.

Now for the one creme I picked up from this collection.  It’s called All That Razz.  I adore these shades of pink.  What I love most about this polish is that it dried to a matte finish!  This was a last minute decision, as there was only one left in the display and I didn’t realized that it was also offered in the core selection until a few days ago.  I’m sorry for the very poor photo of this one, but I didn’t realize how close to dead my camera battery was.

Do you have any of these colors, either from Color Club or Studio M?

Mani #8-Finger Paints Flip Flop Fuchsia & Fun-Fetti

I’ve got a bit of updating to do on my stash pages.  The two colors I’m wearing right now aren’t a part of it!  One color I picked up at the last Sally’s extra 50% off clearance sale.  The other I got from the blog sale that I posted about. I kept going back to look at it and knew that, despite trying not to buy, I needed it.  I’m so glad that I decided to get it because I love it!  I’ll be blogging about what else I got in the blog sale.  It was my first ever nail mail as well.

My base color is Finger Paints Flip Flop Fuchsia.  This color is from Finger Paints’ Summer in the City collection.  I’ve always associated fuchsia as more of a purple color with just a bit of pink, but this is about as pink as you can get.  It fits in with those bright/hot pinks for the summer.  The formula was thick, and if you were careful enough, could get decent coverage in one coat.  I always do at least two coats.  I had some major pooling around the cuticle from this polish.  This polish also dries to a nice shine.

Finger Paints Fun-Fetti is an awesome top coat multi-colored glitter.  It’s comprised of small hex glitters and small circular glitters. It’s kind of like a glitter party in a bottle.  Fun-Fetti was a limited edition polish available at Sally’s Beauty Supply.  I just did one coat on each nail.

I asked for some help from my Twitter followers about what color to wear under Fun-Fetti and pink was one of the suggestions.  I was just going to go for boring white!  I’m so glad that I chose a pink and I love how it looks.  I want to see how Fun-Fetti looks over some other colors as well, so expect to see it back at some point.  I used Sinful Colors top coat.

Color(s) Used: Finger Paints – Flip Flop Fuchsia & Fun-Fetti

Nail Art: Glitter

Recommendation:  I would go either way with the Flip Flop Fuchsia.  You can probably find another pink like it, since this was part of a summer collection.  It might work well with stamping though.  That’s something that I plan on trying.  Fun-Fetti is no longer available in stores, but there are some other glitters out there that look similar. There’s a good dupe comparison on this blog.

Mani #1

New to posting my weekly manicure, but I’m sure I’ll figure this out with time.  I’ve read enough nail polish blogs to learn a bit about taking photographs.

This weeks mani is done with Finger Paints Choco Mint and Wet n Wild Fast Dry Light with Caution.  I love mint shades and have a number of them that I need to try to compare.   This is the first time I’ve used Finger Paints, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

The Finger Paints went on well.  The first coat was a little streaky, but it evened out with the second coat.  I really like how this applied to the nail

I’m just getting into the glitter crazy, and when I saw the Fast Dry Sparks & Stripes LE collection, I picked up one of each color.  Light with Caution has hex glitter in a light to pale pink shade, along with some smaller glitters in the same light to pale pink and also in a blue to green.
