New SinfulColors Break Away Collection

It’s Saturday night, when I usually do my nails, so I can actually do a quick swatch post.  Quick as in, my swatching and pictures look horrible, I’m not feeling well, but I’m not going to let it bother me.

I know that I usually don’t jump on posting swatches of a collection (when I do post them), but since I haven’t seen anything about this new SinfulColors collection yet, I thought I’d get some quick ones up.

I came across this new collection at Meijer today.  It’s been awhile since I’ve spotted a new SinfulColors collection there, so this caught me off guard.  I wish I could remember all the colors that made up Break Away, but I had a very sort amount of time to cruse through cosmetics today.

SinfulColors Break Away Collection

SinfulColors Break Away Collection

I can tell you that there are three new colors.  Anemone, Hey, You!, and Over It.  The rest are core, two just being added to the core line.   The ones that I can remember seeing are Daredevil (first one on the left), Open Seas (second one on the left), Folly (the last one), and I think Star Fish.  The blue might be Fly Away.  If I can get back before this collection is picked over, I’ll edit the colors.

I picked up the three colors I didn’t have.  If it wasn’t for this collection being SinfulColors, I really would have passed it by.  The three colors look similar to colors already out in all honesty.  I haven’t had a chance to compare bottles side by side yet, but plan to do so soon.

SinfulColors Anemone, Hey, You!, and Over It

SinfulColors Anemone, Hey, You!, and Over It

I have come to the conclusion that there are no good “picture places” in this house.  It doesn’t help that my camera doesn’t like colorful close up shots.  Or close up shots at all.  So there’s my horrible bottle shot picture.

And a quick picture of the names and numbers.

Ugh! I didn’t realize how bad my swatching turned out until I put the picture up.  Really, I’m better than this…(I know that I shouldn’t be hard on myself, but, well, I am).  My nails really do look horrible.

Over It (which describes how I’m feeling about a lot of things right now), has some shimmer to it, and I love that you can see this shimmer in the bottle and that it’s not sheer.  Hey, You! reminds me a lot of Exotic Green, so I am anxious to do bottle comparisons with those two.  I can’t think of anything right off hand that’s close to Anemone, but I’m going to take a look through the rest of my SinfulColors & see if there’s anything close.

Now I’m off to decide what polish to wear for this week…or a few days.

Edit: Exotic Green is just a bit darker than Hey, You!. Unless you absolutely LOVE green,  and already own Exotic Green, you’ll probably be okay passion up Hey, You!.

Studio M Valentine’s Day Collection

I really wish I hadn’t passed over this brand for so long.  If you aren’t familiar with Studio M, they are available only at Meijer.  They also, from what I’ve heard and seen, are colors formerly distributed by Color Club under the same color name.  There were 15 different polishes available from this collection, but most of them were ones I’d seen before, already had from a previous collection, or knew they were in the core display.

This year’s collection is called Be A Heart Breaker.  I picked up 5 colors, 4 glitters and a creme.  The creme was an after-thought, so it’s not in the picture below when I initially did my swatches.

Glitters from the Studio M Be A Heart Breaker 2013 collection.

Glitters from the Studio M Be A Heart Breaker 2013 collection.

Up first is Singles Only.  There are hex glitters of two or three different sizes and very fine micro glitter  all silver.  These are set in a sheer pink base.  I used two coats in the swatch and feel like I got pretty good coverage.

Next up is Platinum Record.  It’s basically the same glitter as in Singles Only, just set in a clear base.  In the bottle it looks like there might be some black micro glitter, but as far as I can tell, there isn’t.  This glitter applied smoothly, and the brush picked it up from the bottle better than I thought it would.

This next one is probably my favorite from this collection.  It’s called Fame & Fortune. Set in a sheer raspberry shade, it’s full of glitter shards.  This is a bottle to turn upside down for awhile before applying it, as the shards settle.  The only thing with application was getting the shards where I wanted them so it wasn’t clumpy, but they laid flat on the nail.

These final two can be found in the core line at Meijer.  I often forget to look to see what’s offered there and in a collection before purchasing.  I don’t often notice a color until I see it in a collection,  and I’ve had to start remembering to look there before purchasing.  If it’s a color I want and it’s in the core line, then I know I can wait until they’re on sale.  These were two I forgot to do that with.

Tru Passion is packed with micro glitters.  These are some of my favorite polishes to pick up from Studio M.  Tru Passion is packed with lavender micro glitters.  I can’t remembe3r if I used two or three coats for this swatch.  Two coats will give close to full coverage for the most part.

Now for the one creme I picked up from this collection.  It’s called All That Razz.  I adore these shades of pink.  What I love most about this polish is that it dried to a matte finish!  This was a last minute decision, as there was only one left in the display and I didn’t realized that it was also offered in the core selection until a few days ago.  I’m sorry for the very poor photo of this one, but I didn’t realize how close to dead my camera battery was.

Do you have any of these colors, either from Color Club or Studio M?

Sonia Kashuk Polishes On Clearance At Target!

I have one bottle of Sonia Kashuk polish from one of the last times it was on clearance at Target.  I had to stop in tonight to pick something up and decided to see if any polishes from this brand happened to be on clearance.  Not only were some colors on clearance, but they were 50% off.  It never seems like these are placed with the other health and beauty items on clearance, so be sure to check the beauty isle where the Sonia Kashuk brand is.

I picked up three new colors.  My Target had five colors on clearance, so it will depend on what your Target has in stock.

Hocus Pocus, Taunting Teal, Emerald City

Hocus Pocus, Taunting Teal, Emerald City

I am so happy with my choices!  Trying something new by swatching on some glue on nails that I had.  I think I’m going to have to invest in some nail wheels.  I’d be more likely to swatch if I did.  Also notice the differece in the bottles.

First up is Hocus Pocus.  It’s this deep purple color. I used 3 coats for the swatch, but 2 probably would have been fine.  I’ll have to see how it translates to the actual nail.

Up next is Taunting Teal. This is probably my favorite color of the three I picked out.  Rarely do you see a teal that is as dark as this.  Most of the teals I’ve come across are lighter and have a bit of shimmer to them.  It leans very close to a navy blue in indoor light.  I can’t wait to see what it looks like in sunlight.  Swatch is two coats.

Up last is Emerald City. It’s not quite the emerald shade that Pantone has slated for the color of the year, but I still love it.  Again, this color turned out really dark, leaning closer to a pine green color.  I can’t wait to see what this looks like in the sunlight. Swatch is two coats.

I can’t wait to wear these colors.  I’m not sure on wear time for this line of polishes.  Are you going to go pick any of these ups, or wait to see if there’s any left for 70% off?

Wet n Wild Saved By the Bell Collection

I didn’t post a manicure yesterday because I was finishing up swatches for this collection.  I never really planned on posting swatches of a collection unless I was sent something to provide a review, but when I got my hands on these Wet n Wild polishes, I knew I had to.

Saved by the Nail Display

Saved by the Nail Display

I know that there are many polish fans out there that are having trouble finding these limited editions, but rest assured that they do exist!  I don’t go into CVS that often, but I decided to make a stop just to see if they had them.  Not only did they have them, but they had at least one bottle of the entire set!  I almost couldn’t believe it, considering how some people can’t find this at all, or can only find a few colors and are searching multiple CVS stores.  Not that I really needed to, but I grabbed one of each color.

Despite having some Wild Shine polishes in my stash, I’d never worn them, so I wasn’t sure what to expect in the way of wear and application.

The six colors of the Saved By the bell collection. From left to right:
Pom Pom Kelly, Straight A Jesse, Pin’ Em Slater, Nerd Alert: Screech, Chick Magnet Zack, Fashionista Lisa

Please forgive my poor swatch photos.  They were done over two days when the sun was out one minute and it was cloudy and rainy the next.  Excuse the poor nail clean up as well.  Details seem to disappear when I’m in a hurry!

Pom Pom Kelly

Pom Pom Kelly is a hot pink shade.  It goes on sheer, and dries to a satin finish.  It looks more glossy in my photos, but there is a slight matte to it as well, hence the satin like finish.  Application was amazing, no streaks and dried quickly.  I did two coats of polish in this photo, and you could see the nail line.  It was more visible than in the photo.  I did not apply any top coat.

Straight A Jesse

Straight A Jesse

Straight A Jesse is a bright neon orange.  My photo makes it look brighter than it really is, but it’s still eye catching!  Again, the application was amazing.  It has the same satin finish to it.  This polish also dries sheer, and you can see the nail line.  I did 2 coats of polish, no top coat.

Pin' Em Slater

Pin’ Em Slater

Pin’ Em Slater is a bright neon yellow.  I was curious about how this would go onto my nail.  I have another neon yellow similar to this that streaks horribly!  What a pleasant surprise with how will this one went on!  It was smooth, no streaks, flawless.  I really want another bottle of this just because of those three things!  This yellow was more sheer than any of the other colors.  I applied 3 coats of this polish instead of 2 because of how sheer it came out to be.  It has the same satin finish.  I love this color, even though it’s hard for me to wear any shade of yellow on its own.  Again, no top coat.

Warm Colors

Warm Colors of the Collection

Nerd Alert: Screech

Nerd Alert: Screech

Nerd Alert: Screech is a neon green shade.  This one is also fairly sheer.  In the picture I’m wearing 2 coats.  Again, this polish had the same satin finish.  I love this shade of green because it’s not too bright, but still fits in the neon family.  Application was great, just as the other colors were.  This is one of my favorites from this collection.  No top coat.

Chick Magnet Zack

Chick Magnet Zack

Chick Magnet Zack is an awesome teal shade.  If I was asked which color in the collection was my favorite, it would be this one!  It didn’t apply as sheer as the other colors and the satin finished worked really well.  My picture shows 2 coats, no top coat.  I really want another bottle of this, over any other color in the collection.  If this is the only bottle you ever find in this collection, pick it up.  There’s nothing much more to say except that this is just amazing.

Fashionista Lisa

Fashionista Lisa

Fashionista Lisa is a great shade of purple.  I know it looks more pink in my photo, but it dries to the color in the bottle.  There is noticeable difference between Fashionista Lisa and Pom Pom Kelly.  In fact, I’m wearing one color on one hand and the other color on the other hand.  This is another sheer, but not so bad with just 2 coats.  It has the same satin finish as the rest.  No top coat.

Cool Colors of the Collection

Cool Colors of the Collection

Overall, I love this collection!  I’m so glad I picked it up, even though it wasn’t really on my “must find, must have list”.  I am amazed at the application and I’m hoping it’s the same with the other Wild Shines I have.  Dry time was great as well.  The next time I wear these, I’m going to add a white base or nearly nude base, just to see how it looks.  I think the one I’m most excited about is Pin’ Em Slater because it didn’t streak.  The color I love most is Chick Magnet Zack.  I have some other sheers in my collection, and I think these have finally gotten me to embrace them!

As far as I know this collection is exclusive to CVS stores, as that’s where I found mine and where others have found their SBtB polishes.  I’ve also heard that someone found them at Kmart, but I can’t confirm that.

Have you spotted this collection?  Have you picked any up, and if you have, what did you get?  What ones do you want if you haven’t found it yet?
